We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tree Climber to become part of our professional arborist team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in climbing trees using rope and saddle techniques (and spikes for removals when appropriate), safely operating chainsaws, rigging equipment, and collaborating closely with ground crews to perform high-quality tree trimming and removal projects. This position requires both technical climbing expertise and a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork. As a Tree Climber, you will be responsible for ascending and maneuvering safely within trees to prune, shape, or remove limbs and entire trees when necessary. You will utilize proper climbing, rigging, and cutting techniques to ensure each task is completed cleanly, efficiently, and without damage to surrounding property. Daily responsibilities include operating chainsaws, pole saws, ropes, and other arborist tools, setting up rigging systems, communicating clearly with ground crew members and the Foreman, and maintaining all equipment to ensure smooth operations. A strong safety mindset is essential, as you will be expected to follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and ANSI standards related to arboricultural safety and work practices.
To be successful in this role, candidates should have at least two years of professional tree climbing experience, including both spurless and spur climbing. You should possess a working knowledge of tree species, pruning standards, rigging methods, and proper rope-handling techniques. Physical fitness, comfort with heights, and the ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions are all must-haves. A valid driver’s license (Class C required, CDL preferred) and reliable transportation are necessary for travel to job sites. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, reliable, and have excellent communication skills with a strong attention to detail. Additional certifications such as TCIA or ISA Arborist Certification are highly valued and will be considered a strong asset. Experience operating aerial lifts, chippers, and stump grinders is also preferred but not required, as training can be provided for the right individual.
This position offers competitive pay based on experience and skill level, with opportunities for advancement within a growing company that values professionalism and quality workmanship. You’ll join a safety-focused, supportive work environment where teamwork and respect are at the core of daily operations. We offer consistent, year-round work with the potential to expand your skills through professional development and ongoing training. If you’re passionate about arboriculture, love working outdoors, and take pride in your craft, we invite you to apply and grow with our team.
