Pacific Trail Mfg. Painting Technician $25/hr

Position: Painting Tech

Pacific Trail Manufacturing is looking to fill an entry level Painting Technician for our fabrication shop located in SE Portland. We’re a small business looking for someone with experience in spray techniques and attention to detail.

The ideal applicant will be able to work as a team member, on time, follow multi-step verbal communication and will strive for manufacturing best practices and cleanliness. This role involves prepping surfaces, applying primers, and using spray equipment to paint fabricated parts and assemblies.

This role will also involve receiving and shipping packages and pallets for our shipping area. This will include unloading pallets and raw steel from trucks using a forklift, putting away inventory items, boxing shipments, and using a computer to check items in.

Painting Tech: 80%

Shipping Clerk: 20%

Responsibilities:

Prep surfaces (cleaning, masking, etc.) before painting

Apply primers, topcoats, and specialty finishes using spray equipment

Organize and maintain spray booth and painting tools

Inspect finished work for quality and touch-up as needed

Follow safety protocols and shop procedures

Secure and position assemblies using forklift

Unload pallets and raw steel from trucks using the forklift.

Put away inventory that we receive.

Box up shipments.

Use a computer to check-in returned parts from our customer.

Keep data and supplies organized.

Qualifications:

Experience painting metal fabrication or similar.

Familiarity with pneumatic paint spray equipment.

Forklift license or experience.

Physically able to lift heavy objects up to 70 lbs.

Attention to detail with good eyesight.

Good organizational skills.

Good verbal communication skills to follow multi-step verbal instructions.

3+ years of work experience (in any job or military position).

Able to read and follow work orders.

Reliable transportation.

Be able to pass an illegal (Oregon) drug screen.

Starting pay $25/hr

Performance review in 3 months with potential pay raise/ every year after 1st year
