PFG currently manages over $350M of client investments through our TAMP (Turnkey Asset Management Provider), with accounts custodied at Charles Schwab and many 401(k) plans managed at Vestwell. We are seeking an Investment Operations Manager to partner with leadership to manage our internal investment operations team to build scalable systems to support our continued growth.

Job Summary:

The Investment Operations Manager will be responsible for managing all the operations in our investment department. This includes setting up new accounts, transferring assets into accounts, managing distributions, setting up new 401(k) plans, transferring existing 401(k) plans to our platform, etc. This job centers around producing timely, accurate, and high-quality results, and benefits from an analytical, inquiring, and critical mind. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, but also a focus on technical work.

This role is perfect for an experienced investment operations professional who wants to step into a leadership position where they can make decisions, solve problems, and build processes without constant oversight. You'll be the subject matter expert for all investment operations, handling complex situations and exceptions while developing your team's capabilities.

Intellectual confidence is another important aspect of this job. The person must be close to the work of setting up accounts, making investment transfers, etc., with hands-on involvement and detailed follow-up. When working with or managing others, the role will require discipline, precise feedback, and careful delegation.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all investment account administration: openings, transfers, rollovers, distributions, and exception handling

Manage and develop the investment operations team, including performance evaluation and personnel decisions

Serve as primary liaison with our TAMP, TPAs (Third-Party Administrator), and other investment-related vendors

Handle complex client communications and 401(k) participant education programs

Systematize current processes and create scalable procedures to support business growth

Coordinate seamlessly with financial planning, accounting, and tax departments

Make operational decisions independently, escalating only strategic issues to leadership

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements

Requirements:

7-10+ years of investment operations experience with demonstrated problem-solving abilities

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience

Strong understanding of investment account types, transfers, and regulatory requirements

Experience working with business owners or self-employed professionals preferred

Excellent judgment and decision-making skills for handling exceptions and complex situations

Advanced proficiency with Excel and financial software platforms

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bachelor's degree preferred

Ability to work independently while keeping leadership informed of key developments

Compensation: DOE

Hours: As needed, with a minimum of 8-5 M-Th, 8-2:30 on Fridays

Reporting Structure: This position will report directly to the COO, with regular interaction with the CEO on strategic initiatives.
