Schiller Clay Works is urgently hiring a part time (minimum 2 days a week) / full time team member for our 2500 sq ft ceramic production facility in Portland, Oregon.

We are a producer of ceramic products from lamps, artist sculptures to dinnerware.

We're a tiny team but output like a larger studio (hundreds of ceramic a day) and seeking a like minded efficient team player.

As a member of our production team you will contribute to a hands-on work environment with new and changing projects.

These are our must-haves:

Experience working in production of large quantities of handmade ceramics (at least 2 years full time)

Versatile with great attention to detail whether it's sculpture or dinnerware

Good social etiquette and ability to maintain good attitude

Ability to lift objects 50 lbs

Your day to day activities may include the following and competence in at least two ares is required:

Slip casting

Finishing cast wares

Trimming on wheel

Sanding

This position:

Will begin as 4 week trial

Is currently a temp position to conclude at the end of the holiday season in November/December. Our current goal is to keep this position indefinitely for the right person.

Hours are flexible within production hours: Mon - Fri, 9am - 7pm

Company culture:

Our team fluctuates between 2-9 employees. It's a production environment and we're a super quiet, get-to-work types where socializing is minimal. If you're seeking a social environment this won't be the right fit for you. Everyone is expected to work independently with plenty of feedback from leadership.

Interview Process:

You will be invited to a working interview where you will be working on actual projects. You will be given set amount of tasks to complete in 4 hours (lunch break included) we're interviewing for positive attitude, dexterity, ability to take directions and make improvements, attention to detail and familiarity with the clay medium. $18/hr pay
