Bike Mechanics - The Gear Fix - PT / FT Year Round Employment

The Gear Fix is an outdoor gear consignment and repair shop that has been serving Central Oregon since 2006. If you have lived in Bend for a while, there is a good chance you’re familiar with who we are and what we do. If not, we invite you to stop by the shop and check us out.

We aim to create opportunities for continuous engagement with the outdoors through selling and repairing quality outdoor gear. By selling clothing on consignment, we lessen the initial investment of getting outside, and through repairing damaged gear, we keep people doing the recreational activities they love while keeping material out of the landfills. These platforms allow us to promote and highlight companies that are doing their part in making quality gear that lasts, which in turn reduces their overall environmental impact. The Gear Fix offers a work environment full of like-minded individuals that strive to keep used gear going, doing our part for the planet. We are looking for experienced bike mechanics to join our team. For this position, previous experience working on bikes professionally is required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of bikes

Assist customers in purchasing bikes, parts, and accessories

Evaluate incoming bikes, parts, and accessories for consignment

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/ understanding of bicycle technology, both current and past

Outstanding Customer Service

Strong communication skills

Ability to stay on task while performing multiple duties in a fast paced retail environment

Ability to stand and perform physical tasks for a full shift

Strong problem solving skills

Patience

Continual learning

Ability to work as a member of a team

Experience as a bike mechanic

Ski tech experience is a plus, but not required

FT ONLY BENEFITS: (Full time is 32 hours or more per week)

PAY

$19-$26/hr Pay is based on experience with opportunities for advancement.
