Our Wilmington, NC laboratory is looking for an entry-level Sample Custody Specialist to join their Sample Management team!  The Sample Custody Specialist's primary responsibilities are to greet clients, receive samples, prepare bottle kits or sample media for clients, deliver samples to the labs, dispose of expired samples, and work in shipping and receiving. The Sample Custody Specialist is responsible for following all health and safety procedures and promoting a safe working environment throughout the department and the laboratory.Job functions:Greets clients dropping off samples in a professional and courteous manner.Receives samples directly from clients or third-party couriersUnpacks sample coolers and containers and documents sample receipt, and organizes samples in an efficient and timely mannerVerifies and records sample receipt condition/temperatures, as applicableCreates jobs, enters bottle/sample media records, and generates bottle/sample labels using LIMS in accordance with chain of custody (COC)Scans COCs and any other supporting sample submission documentsApplies sample labels to sample containersTransfers samples between sample reception, cold or ambient storage areas, and laboratory departmentsShips samples, coolers, sample media and packages to clients and other SGS locationsPrepares client bottle/sample media kitsMaintains all required documentation with accuracy and clarityRemoves historical samples from completed jobs and assigns samples for disposal; disposes of expired samplesCommunicates sample information to Client Services team and lab operations to ensure timely issue resolutionAdheres to lab and sample management SOPs to ensure that proper sampling handling procedures are followedProvides exceptional customer service to internal and external clientsPerforms other duties as assigned
