AECOM is seeking Arterial Operators based in the Bradenton Area.Arterial Operators are responsible for monitoring the state arterial roadways in the areas covered by FDOT District 1 and possess a strong familiarity of the District’s arterial network. There are 1st and 2nd shift opportunities.Among other tasks, Arterial Operators’ responsibilities include:The Arterial Operators are responsible for the direct monitoring of arterial performance, discovery of operational issues and the reporting of such issues to the arterial operations engineer, local maintaining agency, maintenance contractor or construction contractor as appropriate. The Arterial Operators are stationed within the STMC, interacting with freeway team to ultimately provide a seamless oversight of the District’s arterial roadway facilities.Monitors the status of traffic signal and system operations, arterial corridor congestion, traffic flow, etc. by technology tools, including advanced traffic management systems, travel time monitoring, and CCTV cameras.Identifies traffic congestion along the arterial network, based on pre-defined performance measures, then developing and implementing traffic mitigation measures in a timely manner.Entering all scheduled and unscheduled events, congestion and detour routes into SunGuide software and disseminating information using ITS devices, associated applications, websites, and Florida 511 (FL511) system, including for major incidents reported to the TMC outside the Arterial coverage area defined under section 4.2.5, in accordance with District 1 TMC Operations SOP.Detects, confirms and track equipment faults affecting arterial operations and coordinate with IT Consultants, contractors and maintaining agencies as and when needed to resolve the issues.Manage arterial operations in accordance with the District 1 TMC Operations SOP.Detect, confirm, update, and respond to scheduled and unscheduled traffic and incident management events on the arterial network, congestion, and travel time imbalances in the geographical coverage area.Enter all scheduled and unscheduled events and congestion into SunGuide software.Coordinate with other Control Room staff, law enforcement, and external agencies in response to incidents.Coordinate with Arterial Operations Engineers to adjust signal timing as and when needed in response to scheduled and unscheduled events.Continuously monitor signal and system operation through CCTV cameras, Central Signal System Applications, real-time traffic data applications/websites to proactively identify intersection/signal operation issues rather than reactive after complaints received from others, and coordinate signal operation changes with the arterial operations engineers to improve operation and safety at signalized intersections and coordinated signal systems.Detect, confirm, and report equipment faults affecting Control Room equipment and field equipment, including equipment maintained by the signal maintaining agency.Perform daily Arterial ITS infrastructure checks (CCTVs, DMS, MVDS, Video Wall, etc.) early in the mornings and open IT/ITS device failure tickets for malfunctions detected during the check.Perform FREEWAY Operator duties in accordance with Section 4.2.4 as well per District 1 TMC Operations SOP, as and when needed.Coordinate with maintenance staff and signal maintaining agency staff as needed.Follow FDOT District 1 TMC Operations SOP, policies, procedures, guidelines, and preferences.All other tasks assigned by the Department.
