Typical duties and responsibilities

Production work: Operate sawing and cutting machinery to process raw logs into dimensional lumber

Material handling: Use loaders or forklifts to move logs and lumber, load and unload materials, and feed raw logs into the mill.

Maintenance and cleanup: Perform routine maintenance on sawmill equipment, keep work areas clean, and remove sawdust and other debris.

Safety compliance: Strictly adhere to all company safety procedures and use required safety equipment to mitigate the inherent risks of working with heavy machinery and wood dust.

Required skills and qualifications

Physical strength and stamina for a demanding work environment that may involve heavy lifting and long periods of standing.

Mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining complex machinery and using basic hand tools.

An attention to detail for quality control and safety protocols.
