This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking a Highway Engineer Intern to be based in Newark, Delaware.Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology, learn industry best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. As a Highway Engineer Intern, you will gain experience working as part of a team on medium to large-scale transportation projects in Delaware and Pennsylvania. You will build analytical and design skills, create designs, perform calculations, write reports, and draft construction plans under the supervision of an experienced engineer.This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Assisting in the development of roadway alignments, traffic control plans, right-of-way determination, utility coordination utilizing Openroads Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD and a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications and MS Office applications.Assisting with preliminary to final design calculations and plan development, reviewing of field information, possible field inspection of existing facilities and other work consistent with the duties of an entry level engineer.Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibilities are best qualified to meet the demands of this work. An intern is expected to be able to apply technical training to perform basic calculations, work well in a team setting and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills.
