AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative GIS Director to lead and manage geospatial initiatives across multiple infrastructure and utility projects and will be located in Denver, CO. This role will be responsible for overseeing GIS staff, coordinating cross-functional workflows, and ensuring the integrity and interoperability of spatial data across GIS, BIM, and asset management platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for solving complex data challenges in support of client-facing and operational goals.Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership & Resource ManagementSupervise and mentor GIS staff, delegating tasks across concurrent projects.Manage workload distribution and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.Workflow Documentation & IntegrationDesign and document data workflows between GIS, BIM (e.g., Revit, Civil 3D), and asset management systems (e.g., Maximo, Cityworks).Ensure data interoperability and traceability across platforms.Schema Management & Data GovernanceMaintain and update GIS data schemas tailored to various client requirements.Enforce data standards, validation rules, and version control protocols.Cityworks Configuration & SupportUnderstand and support Cityworks configurations, including service request workflows, asset hierarchies, and spatial integrations.Collaborate with asset management teams to align GIS data with operational needs.Client Engagement & FacilitationLead client-facing workshops and discovery sessions with cross-functional groups including IT, engineering, planning, and operations.Translate technical concepts into actionable strategies for stakeholders.Data Development StrategyEvaluate and implement the right balance between automated data processing (e.g., ETL tools, scripts) and manual editing.Optimize data development workflows for efficiency and accuracy.Provides technical and management leadership for a discipline or area of responsibility. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior-level managers within the company and with key officials of other organizations and companies, and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, individuals will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature technical judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual structure/design problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse activities. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
