Staff Software Engineer (backend)

About the teamAt Platform Security Core and particularly Access Controls team, you will be helping us improve the security, performance, reliability, scalability, and feature set of our Platform Authorization Frameworks. Our team is responsible for validating and enforcing the access controls for every incoming transaction within the platform.We are a group of people that are passionate, self-directed and enjoy working on security controls/protocols with a security first mindset. We work in a very collaborative environment that empowers and enables you to succeed in your role.Along with the ability to work on Access Controls features, you get to develop and nurture forensic abilities to craft detailed Root Cause Analysis and mitigation plans for issues introduced by the security layer of the platform. You will share your experience and skills with the team and learn from them in return.What you get to do in this role:Build high-quality, clean, scalable and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes (Code Reviews, Unit testing, etc.)Design and develop core authorization features of the platform that will be used by our customers, applications to enforce access controls on its resources.Develop and Nurture forensic abilities to craft detailed Root Cause Analysis and mitigation plans for issues introduced by the security layer of the platform.Work with the product owners to understand detailed requirements and own your code from design, implementation, test automation and delivery of high-quality product to our users.Design software that is simple to use to allow customers to extend and customize the functionality to meet their specific needsContribute to the design and implementation of new products and features while also enhancing the existing product suiteBe a mentor for colleagues and help promote knowledge-sharingTo be successful in this role you have:Passion for JavaScript (backend) and the Web as a platform, reusability, and componentizationExperience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerationsAnalytical and design skillsAbility to manage projects with material technical risk at a team level
