Live in elderly care 1 hr per day plus $400 rent

Room in a cute apartment across the street from the Arcata Coop health food store! Ground floor. The room has a large closet and a nice view of a grassy yard with pretty trees. Laundry machines are next door. Shared bathroom with shower/tub. Walking distance to the beautiful marshes, ponds and bay, the plaza with cute shops and the farmers market!

Trade for $400 per month plus 1 hour of elderly care, 5 days a week.

My mom is in her 80’s and is pretty capable except that she can’t walk well. She’s extremely cute, nice and is a world traveler and therefore, is very interesting to talk to.

We are looking for a non-smoker and non-drug user who is clean, fun, uses natural products and doesn’t have a lot of things. You must have a clean record for a background check. Experience with elderly care is a plus but not necessary. NO SMOKERS!

The following duties do not all have to be done daily, but are the totality of what would be expected. They include: making morning smoothies with veggies and fruit, making sure she has socks on, hearing aids in and water by her side, helping her to navigate YouTube to find a movie, remind her to take her pills, making sure her phone is charged, shower her in her shower chair once a week, taking her on strolls in her wheelchair, such as, the farmer's market, the marsh, thrift stores, etc. She also works with Pace home care and they come 1-2 times a day to check on her for about 15-30 minutes 5 days a week. We can arrange for them to come on your days off. The main thing is that you are there at night in case she falls and you can help her up. It's fine for you to have other work. If you work from home that's even better. You must also keep the house clean.

Utilities included. The room is semi-furnished and has a twin bed and possibly a few other pieces if desired. No more pets. My mom has a sweet cat who is mostly away, as she has in-and-out access.
