This position requires a strong background in industrial maintenance operations and understanding of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems as well as plumbing

Thorough knowledge of the tools, processes, and terminology associated with electrical trades; thorough knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair techniques associated with electrical trades; good knowledge of accident prevention

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Observes mechanical devices in operation and uses various test equipment and/or listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

Inspects and measures used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.

Starts devices to test their performance.

Sets up and operates band saw, end mill, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to fabricate and repair parts.

Repairs electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.

Diagnoses replaces or repairs faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, starters, switches, motors, programmable logic controllers and positions sensing devices.

May repair transformers, generators, and electronic controllers on machine as qualified.

When working with complex electronic devices, may consult with engineers, engineering technicians, line installers and repairers, or industrial machinery mechanics.

Tests, measures, and diagnoses connections and controls and ensures the compatibility and safety of components.

Installs and connects switches, wiring, and outlets; Installs and connects wall, ceiling, pole or outdoor fixtures; Cuts and bends conduit to fit uniformly; Performs emergency electrical repair work as required; Performs other electrical installation, repair, and maintenance tasks as directed.

May assist and participate in obtaining materials and equipment from vendors;

Replaces shaft bearings on various process equipment.

Performs maintenance and repairs to machines and equipment such as conveyors, blowers, crushers, pumps and other processing equipment.

Familiar with hand tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, and wire strippers, as well as power tools such as drills and saws.

Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose fault.

Documents all service actions utilizing written and electronic media. Escalation of extended outages, downtime, repeat calls and safety issues.

Will advise management whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

Communicates with department supervisors, Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager and corporate management in a professional manner
