Position: Sushi Helper

Department: Kitchen

Reports to: Head Sushi Chef

General Description:

Responsible for assisting the Head Sushi Chef and Sushi Chef with food preparations.

Type of Position: Full-time

Weekly Schedule:

Monday to Saturday (Closed on Sunday)

Requirements:

Operations:

- Ensure sushi & roll prep stations are set up and properly stocked before and during service

- Maintain appropriate portion control

- Clean and maintain food preparation equipment; maintain a sanitary workstation throughout the shift

- Ensure proper storing temperatures according to AHD regulations

- Follow proper rotation procedures according to AHD regulations

- Report necessary equipment repairs and maintenance to Head Sushi Chef

- Immediately inform the manager on duty of any AHD or OSHA/workplace safety violations

- Ensure all food products are prepped to perfection per Nabe Sushi’s recipes and standards, with careful attention to any special dietary restrictions or approved special requests

- Assist with breakdown and cleaning of the station at the end of the shift

- Stay updated on knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities

- Be a team player—support and assist fellow team members whenever possible

- Complete other duties as assigned by Head Sushi Chef

Essential Functions:

- Proficiently speak, understand, read, and write in English

- Comprehend and follow written and verbal directions

- Understand basic math

- Work independently or as part of a team

- Lift at least 50 pounds regularly

- Bend, stoop, stand, and perform extensive walking for 8 to 10 hours a day

- Adapt to a fast-paced and challenging work environment

- Approach work with a sense of ownership and urgency

- Perform essential job functions under pressure and maintain professionalism

- Meet Nabe Sushi’s hygiene and grooming standards consistently, as outlined by the Employee Handbook

- Adhere to posted schedules and clock in/out as required

- Adhere to all HR policies and guidelines

Work Experience Requirements:

1+ years in a similar position

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or GED preferred. AHD (TX) Food Handlers Certificate Required.
